Let’s Begin with a Story
Writing about the 5 senses is fun for me. I find beauty in words and capturing the right ones to use. You can use words to evoke feelings in others, giving them the feeling as if it were actually there. Here’s one I wrote.
She woke up ever so lightly, laying there in bed slowly gaining focus of the awareness around her. She felt as if she were on a pluffy cloud snuggled tight in a safe yet adventurous place. She wasn’t used to the pluff pillows and down blanked that cocooned her. “Wow, I’m so grateful for this moment,” as she took a relaxing deep breath. “This feels great,” she thought to herself. She could feel the softness of the luxury bedding on her skin. “Just a few more minutes,” she thought to herself.
It wasn’t just the bed. It was the view of the room as her eyes wandered. The room was neatly designed for her to feel at home with the coziness of the perfect temperature. The hotel signature scent combined with freshly cut flowers was faint in the air. Her clothes are neatly unpacked in the dressing area. A pen and journal are available on the mahogany desk specifically designed for ultimate comfort for her to write and work. She thought about the large bathtub waiting for her after she enjoyed breakfast in bed. The toiletries were neatly lined up in a row close by. Just then, she remembered the kind lady from guest services who showed her the button just next to her bed that would open the curtains for her. She rolled over to the left side of the bed and pressed the button. The curtains opened slowly from the middle to both sides exposing not only the natural sunlight but the beautiful view.
Am I dreaming? She thought. How wonderful to wake up and see the city below her, as she watched the city live and breathe from the comfort of her bed. This in fact was not a dream, but a reality and one that she could get used to. Suddenly, she felt a rush of excitement to start the day. She couldn't wait to explore the hotel and the surrounding areas. But first, breakfast!
